If anyone had to name the most anticipated phone in the wide world of Android right now, it would undoubtedly be the Samsung Galaxy S IV. As such, the rumor mill has been hard at work churning out information on Samsung’s upcoming flagship device, including an announcement date, release window, specs and an interesting new way to interact with your smartphone.
According to SamMobile, who has a great track record with Samsung rumors, the Galaxy S IV will be announced March 15th, shortly after Mobile World Congress. Samsung is continuing the trend of backing away from trade shows to announce products, hosting their own Unpacked events to put new devices on display. Samsung has yet to confirm the event at which the SIV will be announced, but we’re expecting it any day now.
As for when the Galaxy S IV will released to the public, SamMobile says April for European and Asian markets, and May or June for America, Australia and Africa. This lines up nicely with what Samsung has done in the past, and makes sense from a distribution standpoint.
The latest rumors peg the SIV, or i9500, as coming in either black or white with a 5-inch Super AMOLED full HD display, an 8-core Exynos 5 Octa processor, Mali-T658 8-core graphics, 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 2MP front-facing camera. None of these specs have been confirmed, but Samsung has already announced the Exynos 5, so it only makes sense that we’ll see it in the SIV, and Samsung will supposedly start manufacturing 5-inch HD panels at the end of this month.
Another interesting rumor on the Galaxy S IV that has popped up today includes a new way to interact with the device. According to the Korean DDaily, the Galaxy S IV will feature floating finger technology. Utilizing new maXTouch sensors, SIV users will be able to make screen selections by merely hovering their finger over the display. This isn’t exactly entirely new technology, but Samsung’s implementation is rumored to be much more battery efficient and accurate than anything before.
